SERVICE AGREEMENT

Here is a copy of our service agreement. Upon booking an appointment or coming in for a walk in service you are agreeing to these policies. If you have any questions or concerns please give us a call!

“Thank you for choosing Goat & Bear Grooming Salon! Our service agreement is put in place to keep everyone safe and the business running smooth. We will do our best to make the appointment a fun and easy process for you and your pet!

HEALTH- We require you to inform us of any previous or pre-existing health conditions your pet has so we can provide the safest groom for them. (allergies, seizures, heart conditions, trachea issues, luxating patella, torn ACL, arthritis, ear infections, hot spots. etc.) We will do our best to work with any health conditions your pet may have. Please be aware some conditions can be aggravated by grooming. Grooming can be stressful, especially for pets with pre-existing health problems and senior pets. For such pets, we may have to opt for what is called a comfort groom, where we minimize the amount of time and handling and focus on the comfort and cleanliness of your pet. Due to the intimate nature of grooming or a pet’s tolerance level for stress, strangers, or handling, some pets can become anxious or reactive during the grooming service. If we determine that continuing the grooming service would present a threat to your dog’s emotional or physical heath, and/or the safety of the groomer completing the service, we will discontinue service and contact you immediately. We reserve the right to turn away or reschedule service if your pet has a health condition that would make grooming unsafe or a condition that needs immediate vet treatment. In the event of an emergency, in your absence, you authorize Goat & Bear Grooming Salon LLC to contact the nearest Veterinarian and authorize the Vet to treat the pet as necessary at your expense. We will make every effort to contact you should any emergency arise.

MATTING- Pets with matted coats need extra attention during their grooming service. Pets who have matts are prone to skin irritation and skin infections. For the safety and comfort of your pet we cannot de-matt large areas or bathe extremely matted pets. We will recommend removing matts in the safest length possible and starting over if necessary. Ears that get severely matted are prone to HEMATOMAS when the matting is removed. We have flyers in the salon to go over this. Severe matting that is all the way to the skin will require a shave down in our safest blade and shortest blade, #10. We will do everything we can to safely remove matts, but may have to refer you to a vet if we feel it is unsafe.

SENSITIVE SKIN- Some pets have sensitive skin. If your pet is sensitive to fragrance please let us know as we offer a hypo-allergenic shampoo/conditioner at no charge. If your pet is sensitive to the clippers we will do our best to use longer lengths when possible or avoid those areas. If your pet is  sensitive to their sanitary areas being shaved we recommend keeping the area clean by using a warm washcloth or pet wipes, and keeping the area brushed out to prevent matting and build up requiring shaving.

FLEAS- If your pet has fleas please DO NOT bring them in. Please treat them at home/vet first and then schedule a grooming when all the adult fleas are dead. They are sneaky so if we did not see them at check in and find fleas mid bath we will notify you, use a natural flea shampoo and then kennel your pet when they are finished with the groom. A $10 charge will apply for fleas.

TICKS- If we find a tick on your dog we will notify you, if we can safely remove it we will. If there are more than a few ticks we will need to refer you to a vet for removal before we can groom your pet.

SKIN/EAR INFECTIONS- Grooming can aggravate both of these conditions, please check with your vet to make sure it’s ok for your pet to be groomed. We are able to put cotton balls in the ears to reduce moisture during the bath. We also offer several medicated shampoos for minor skin issues.

BEHAVIOR- Every pet is different! We understand that some pets are nervous or difficult for grooming or for specific things like nails. We will make every effort to work with your pet. Please inform us of any quirks your pet may have. We will take every precaution to complete the grooming service safely and humanely including proper use of common industry safety equipment such as grooming loops, belly bands, safety harness/slings, Elizabethan collars(cones), and muzzles. No electronic collars or bark collars are used in the salon, if your dog uses one we will remove it while your pet is in the salon.

If your dog’s behavior puts us or itself at serious risk of injury we will stop the groom, inform you and discuss options.

PUPPIES- Puppies need extra love, time, and patience. We like to start them with a puppy intro which will get them used to the grooming process. We usually cannot do a full body haircut the first time. We will go over options for your specific pet at check in. We cannot see any puppies under 8 weeks of age. You may start getting your puppy groomed as soon they have had 2 rounds of puppy shots. We recommend setting up a regular grooming routine at home for your pet to get them used to being handled.

PREGNANT AND NURSING PETS- We cannot perform any grooming services on pregnant or nursing pets.

REACTIVE PETS- Pet parents must inform us if your pet(s) bite, has bitten, gets nippy or snappy, or is reactive towards other pets or people, or specific grooming services. Elizabethan collars or muzzles may be used if necessary. These will not harm your pet and are a safety measure for the pet and groomer. Goat & Bear Grooming Salon LLC reserves the right to refuse or stop service at any time before or during the grooming process. If the pet should bite, the owner agrees to be responsible for any and all related medical bills.

SEDATION- We cannot groom fully sedated pets, only a licensed vet should perform those services.  We are able to groom pets who have been prescribed a very mild sedative from a vet, pet CBD or other all natural pet friendly products. Please let us know when scheduling if your pet requires sedation. We prefer to try WITHOUT sedation unless you know for sure that your pet needs it to have a successful groom. We also prefer these pets be scheduled during less busy times so we can ensure their stress level is low while being groomed. If your pet shows any signs that we deem unsafe to groom we will need you to come pick them up immediately. Again, we MUST be informed when you schedule your appointment if you plan to use a vet prescribed sedative so we can plan accordingly. We may send you away if your pet shows up sedated without prior consent. We are not liable for any issues that arise from your pet being sedated.

DROP OFF AND PICK UP- We are a small but busy salon and ask that you drop off your pet no more than 30 minutes early to their scheduled appointment. If you need to drop off more than 30 minutes earlier please call us as soon as possible to see if we can accommodate. We usually ask 3-4 hours for a full groom session, and for multi-pets household appointments it may be longer. We will give you an estimate of when your dog will be ready at drop off. We ask that you are able to pick your dog up within 1 hour of them being done unless you have made arrangements with your groomer ahead of time. We have posted hours of 7am-5pm but these are a guideline and will vary depending on the groomers schedule.

LATE FEES- We value all of our amazing groomers and clients, to be fair to everyone please be on time to your appointment. Please call us as soon as possible if you think you are going to be late. Depending on our schedule we may be able to accommodate you and charge a late fee or we may need to reschedule your appointment.

CANCELLATIONS AND NO SHOWS- In order to protect our groomer’s livelihood we require a 48 hour cancellation notice. Each day we have a fixed number of grooming appointments available and we look forward to seeing you and your furry friend. If you need to cancel or reschedule please give us at least 48 hours notice so we can try and offer your time to someone else. We understand that unexpected things happen, please call us at 503-747-7825 as soon as you can.

If you cancel or reschedule with less than 48 hours notice, you will be charged a $25 fee.

If you fail to show up for your scheduled appointment you will be charged 50% of your pets regular grooming fee. Thank you for being considerate and calling in advance to cancel or reschedule your pets appointment.

Not satisfied with the haircut? Please let us know within 48 hours and we will be glad to adjust it free of charge. Requests after 48 hours may incur a charge.
